SCADA Congratulates Ellsworth T. Bowser, DDS


Dr. Ellsworth T. Bowser, a member of the first SCADA class of 1959 representing the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, has announced his retirement as of January 1, 2007. Dr. Bowser practiced with his father for 19 years and later with his daughter, Dr. Holly B. Sletten for 12 years. His entire career has been clinical, general dentistry with a heavy emphasis on prosthodontics. Dr. Bowser served as the President of the Pittsburgh Academy of Dentistry, the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh, the Alumni Association of the SDM and is presently a regional Chairperson of the Board of the East Central American Automobile Association with 2.4 million members in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky. Dr. Bowser is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry. Last year he was designated a Legacy Laureate of the University of Pittsburgh by Chancellor Mark Nordenberg.


Dr. Bowser plans to enjoy his retirement by spending more time with his wife Joann and their family, which includes six grandchildren. He will continue to serve on the East Central AAA Board as well as the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. In his spare time, you will find Dr. Bowser out on the golf course.

In Memoriam

Dr. Frederick W. Hauk, SCADA member since 1961 passed into memoriam on January 25, 2007. Dr. Hauk graduated from Temple University in 1962. He maintained a private practice of general dentistry in Sunbury, Pennsylvania.

Dr. David W. Heese, SCADA member since 1960, passed into memoriam on April 13, 2006.
A graduate of the University of Maryland in 1960, Dr. Heese maintained a private practice of general dentistry in the Towson, Maryland area.
